How did bee society evolve to include a Queen Bee, whereas lion society evolved with a King of the Jungle?
Because both evolved under completely different circumstances.
The common ancestor between Lions and Bees would probably be around 550 MYA, that's a lot of time for divergence. The time has been used well, since there are many, many physical differences between a bee and a lion.
Also, remember that Mammals and Birds are the only groups of animals where the males most often have the greater physical size and strength over the females. In Arthropods, the females are the bigger and stronger gender (most of the time, there are a few exceptions). Also, despite what the above answerer said, most bees are *female*. Workers are all female, and sterile. The drones are the only males, and they do not hang around the hive for long. With lions, Males are the larger gender, so they get the job of protecting the pride. Size is probably the most important factor in dominance.
