Why won't the door locks of my 2000 F250 lock/open with either the remote or the electric lock in door panel?
The doors will not lock/open with either the remote or the electric door lock in the door panel. Any idea? Both of them seem to want to lock/open when I press the button but both seem to be weak to do it. I really doubt is the electric motors because its both.
its not the batteries on either remote or truck. Even when running after a while, they still wont work.
This problem is quite common .
This will cost you only what it time and oil and silicone .
If you do this you will have more to go on than guesses.
Take the panels off all doors remove the door lock switches from the door and connect them to the wires without the panels . try them and see what moves , then use the key in the door lock and see what is supposed to move and if something has come disconnected.
Oil every thing that is connected to the locking mechanism , moving everything back and forth and reapply the oil 3-4 times until you get the dirt and rust out of the connections. Don't worry about the oil getting in side the door it will inhibit rust.
Do the door opening mechanism too and for luck do the moving parts of the windows as well.
Only use silicone spray for the window slides and the door rubber as this will help you in the long run since winter is coming and this will help keep your doors from freezing.
