Can't they make planes' wheels rotate before landing thus reducing skid & wear and save on costs?
A system for spinning the tires before touchdown certainly would not save money over replacing worn tires!
The added expense and weight of any such system would be very costly by comparison with no benefits for the effort. Weight is a big deal on aircraft and the motor needed to spin up the wheels such a system would be an addition of frivilous extra weight. This would decrease the available weight that could be used for revenue. Not only that, it would take up valuable space for cargo too.
While it may seem like a good idea, it simply won't fly. Replacing tires is a far less costly option.
